Creativity – Part of Everything

I am a writer.  I am also a gardener, remodeler, cook, and traveler.  I am AVID (some say rabid) about all those things.  I recently figured out what binds them all together.

Creativity.

You see, I was kicking myself for not spending adequate ‘creative’ time each day.  I wanted to write, but other things called to me, and I found it impossible not to listen.  Then I figured it out.

There’s a creative aspect to each thing I love.  The blank slates of our yards now feel like parks.  Our house was a 1960 original (down to the pink bathtub and plywood cabinets), and we’re about halfway through changing it into ‘our’ home.  I invent new recipes on a regular basis.  Seeking out new people, cultures and experiences makes every trip an adventure.

Creativity knows no boundaries.  Can you find a creative way to do your job, to make it something you enjoy?  Can you interact with people in a way that is uniquely and creatively you?  Can you change the perspective you use to look at the world to make it more meaningful and enjoyable?

Berating myself for not spending enough writing time ignored the other creative things I did.  Writing is just one aspect of the creative person I am.  I will embrace every essence of creativity in my life, in whatever form it arrives.

Creativity is not a thing.  It is a way of being.  Be more creative in everything you do.

How do you build creativity into all aspects of your life?
